A World We Dare to Imagine: Part 3

Soul Bridge: Breaking Barriers to Mental Health

Today I want to introduce Soul Bridge, an organization that dares to imagine a world where therapy and mental health are priorities for everyone. This organization envisions a world in which all individuals have access to the resources they need to care for their mental well-being. Therefore, Soul Bridge actively takes steps to address the issues of inaccessibility and stigma surrounding mental health.

Why?

Therapy can be a safe space where individuals can express themselves, process their emotions, and be listened to without judgment. We all need this kind of support at times. By taking care of our emotional and mental health, we can become better at managing unexpected challenges and approach life with empathy, patience, and compassion. Taking care of a mental health is something extremely beneficial not only for ourselves, but for the people around us. We impact our environment.

How to make a difference?

Soul Bridge has two main approaches that will evolve and change depending on the target user. However, the main ideas are the following. Soul Bridge will create support centers in communities where individuals can access a range of mental health services. These centers offer group therapy, individual therapy, and other support options. By building support within the community, Soul Bridge helps to create a space where everyone can thrive, find the help they need, and realize they are not alone in this journey. It can be a space where people hear to others tell their stories and know there is a brighter future for them.

The second idea is creative and app that will provide accessibility to resources and technique that can help the user navigate difficult times. This app will offer virtual therapy sessions, guided meditations, educational resources, and more. It will serve as a convenient, accessible tool for individuals seeking help.

Where?

The first target community Soul Bridge's efforts will be focused on is Latin America, a region that continues to have very strong negative cultural taboos around mental health. As a Colombian, I have experiences first-hand the challenges many individuals face when seeking therapy due to social stigma. Soul Bridge aims to bring culturally aware support and work its way through difficult social dynamics.

By prioritizing mental health, we are taking steps toward a brighter future for all. It continues to be a sensitive issue is many parts of the world, and only with culturally aware approaches will we have an impact.
